Melbourne CBD cosmetic treatment provider Ying (Angela) Wang under investigation
Cosmetic treatment provider Ying (Angela) Wang and her business Angel’s Dreamworld, trading as Angel’s Beauty Club in Melbourne’s Central Business District, have been issued with separate interim prohibition orders banning the provision of any cosmetic surgical and medical procedures while an investigation is conducted.
Health Complaints Commissioner Karen Cusack issued the interim prohibition orders following a complaint alleging Ms Wang and Angel’s Beauty Club had breached the code of conduct for general health service providers in Victoria.
Ms Cusack said the interim prohibition orders banned Ms Wang and Angel’s Beauty Club, located at shop 2, 16 Liverpool Street, Melbourne, from providing any cosmetic surgical or medical procedures, including procedures that involved cutting or piercing the skin, such as injectable cosmetic treatments.
She said the interim prohibition orders also banned the possession and administration of any Schedule Four drugs for cosmetic use, including Botulinum toxin (Botox) and hyaluronic acid injection preparations (dermal fillers).
She said the interim orders would take effect on the service of the orders to Ms Wang and Angel’s Beauty Club, and would remain in effect for a period of up to 12 weeks while an investigation was conducted.
“I don’t issue interim prohibition orders lightly and only do so when I’m satisfied that it’s necessary to avoid a serious risk to the health, safety or welfare of the public,” Ms Cusack said.
“All cosmetic treatments come with some level of risk and the public must have confidence that their health service provider is appropriately qualified and experienced to carry out the treatment, and that services are provided in a safe and ethical manner.
“It’s important that people bring their complaints or concerns about cosmetic treatments, or any other health service, to our attention.”
