Docklands cosmetic treatment provider under investigation
Cosmetic treatment provider Yu Mei Wang and her business Melbourne TT Pty Ltd have been issued with separate interim prohibition orders banning the provision of any cosmetic surgical and medical procedures while an investigation is conducted.
Health Complaints Commissioner Karen Cusack issued the interim prohibition orders following a complaint alleging Ms Wang and Melbourne TT had breached the code of conduct for general health service providers in Victoria.
Ms Cusack said the interim prohibition orders banned Ms Wang and Melbourne TT, located at 888 Collins Street, Docklands, from providing any cosmetic surgical or medical procedures, including procedures that involved cutting or piercing the skin, such as injectable cosmetic treatments.
She said the interim prohibition orders also banned the possession and administration of any Schedule Four drugs for cosmetic use, including Botulinum toxin (Botox) and hyaluronic acid injection preparations (dermal fillers).
The interim orders would take effect on the service of the orders to Ms Wang and Melbourne TT, and would remain in effect for a period of up to 12 weeks while an investigation was conducted, she said.
Ms Cusack said the HCC had issued 14 interim prohibition orders and one full prohibition order against cosmetic treatment providers since February 2018.
She encouraged the public to continue reporting complaints or concerns about cosmetic services by calling 1300 582 113.
“Complaints about cosmetic treatments can often be quite personal. I can assure the public that our staff approach each complaint with sensitivity and confidentiality,” Ms Cusack said.
“The HCC plays a crucial role in supporting quality and safety in healthcare and in protecting Victorians from unsafe and unethical practices.
“We need the public to work with us by reporting any complaints or concerns they may have about the provision of a health service that didn’t meet the standards of quality and care that we expect and deserve."
