Alternative therapist banned from providing general health services

Health Complaints Commissioner Karen Cusack has made a Prohibition Order against Dennis Wayne Jensen following an investigation into Mr Jensen’s use of painful and ineffective black salve treatment on a cancer patient over a prolonged period until the patient’s death.

General Health Service Warning Statement

The Victorian Health Complaints Commissioner issues the following General Health Service Warning Statement under section 87 of the Health Complaints Act 2016. On 7 May 2018 I launched an investigation into Dennis Wayne Jensen of North Warrandyte. This followed a complaint that he had claimed to be able to treat cancer through the application of ‘black salve’. Dennis Wayne Jensen is also alleged to have encouraged the person treated with ‘black salve’,who was suffering from ovarian cancer, to stop all conventional, evidence-based treatment, including surgery.

Public Health Warning Statement

The Victorian Health Complaints Commissioner issues the following Public Health Warning Statement under section 84 of the Health Complaints Act 2016 . The Commissioner completed an investigation on 7 August 2018 and found that Dennis Wayne Jensen, of North Warrandyte, contravened the General Code, as set out in Schedule 2 of the Health Complaints Act 2016, when he treated a person suffering from ovarian cancer with black salve and encouraged that person to stop evidence-based treatment.

Mr Dennis Wayne Jensen must not: Provide any general health services to any person in a clinical or non-clinical capacity whether or not those services are paid for or provided free of charge; Claim or represent that he is qualified, able or willing to cure cancer or any other serious disease or illness; or Supply, promote or reccommend to any person any product, therapy or other treatment (including black salve) that he claims can cure or treat cancer or any other serious disease or illness.
