A cosmetic service provider who allegedly treated clients in an unregistered ‘salon’ at the back of a jewellery store has been issued with a second interim prohibition order, extending her temporary ban from providing any general health services involving cosmetic procedures, including Botox and dermal fillers.

Health Complaints Commissioner Karen Cusack said the interim prohibition order also temporarily banned Lee Kim Tan, trading as Sonoun Kimlee Salon at G23 46-58 Buckingham Ave, Springvale, from advertising cosmetic services, possessing or storing any Schedule Four poisons, such as Botox and dermal fillers, and from administering any unregistered therapeutic goods or scheduled medicines.

Ms Cusack said she issued an initial interim prohibition order against Ms Tan on 31 May 2019 while her office investigated alleged breaches of the code of conduct for general health service providers in Victoria. This order expired on 22 August 2019.

“At the time the initial interim prohibition expired, I understood Ms Tan was no longer residing in Australia. The immediate risk to the health, safety and welfare of the public had abated and I therefore did not make further orders against Ms Tan while my office continued its investigation.

“I have since been informed that Ms Tan is expected to return to Australia shortly.

“To ensure the public’s safety while our investigation remains ongoing, I have made a second interim prohibition order banning Ms Tan from providing any cosmetic procedures.

“We are working towards completing our investigation as soon as possible.

“Under the Health Complaints Act 2016, I am unable to comment further about the investigation or any matters relating to the investigation.”
