Berwick massage therapist Michael Sergides and his company Regtan Nominees Pty Ltd have been permanently banned from providing any general health services.

Health Complaints Commissioner Karen Cusack made separate prohibition orders against Mr Sergides, trading as 'Mobile Just Massage', and Regtan Nominees this week following an investigation into a complaint made in September 2018.

Ms Cusack said Mr Sergides and Regtan Nominees were banned from advertising, offering or providing any general health services, paid or otherwise, in a clinical or non-clinical capacity.

She said the prohibition order against Mr Sergides also banned him from establishing, directing or otherwise operating any business that advertised, offered or provided any general health services.

“While I can’t release details of the complaint or the investigation for confidentiality reasons, based on the findings of the investigation I feel it is necessary to issue these prohibition orders against Mr Sergides and Regtan Nominees in order to protect the public,” Ms Cusack said.

“Along with complaints resolution, one of the ways the Health Complaints Commissioner (HCC) supports safe and ethical healthcare in Victoria is by investigating general health service providers who pose a serious risk to the public by breaching the code of conduct in the Health Complaints Act 2016.

“This code exists to ensure all Victorians receive safe and ethical healthcare from every health service they use, including massage therapy services.

“We rely on community members to come forward with their concerns so that we’re aware of possible breaches of the code. We can then work independently and impartially to establish the facts and understand what measures, if any, should be taken to protect the public.”
