The Health Complaints Commissioner (HCC) has issued interim prohibition orders against Cynthia Lea Weinstein and CDC Clinics Pty Ltd (CDC), of which Ms Weinstein is a director, following an alleged breach of the code of conduct for general health service providers in Victoria.

Health Complaints Commissioner Karen Cusack said the interim prohibition orders made this week prohibit Ms Weinstein, of Toorak, from undertaking or assisting in any surgical or medical procedures while the HCC investigates the alleged breach.

Ms Cusack said the interim prohibition orders would remain in force for a period of up to 12 weeks while the HCC conducted its investigation.

She said this investigation was subsequent to an investigation that commenced earlier this year into Ms Weinstein and CDC, which remains ongoing.

“Victorians have a right to safe and ethical healthcare and I therefore take alleged breaches of the code very seriously," Ms Cusack said.

“I don’t issue interim prohibition orders lightly but I’m satisfied that this was necessary to avoid a serious risk to the health, safety or welfare of Victorians.

“I encourage anyone with a quality or safety concern about a cosmetic treatment provider, or any other health service in Victoria, to contact the HCC on 1300 582 113 or via our online complaint form."
